The Iglesia Evangelica Unida de Puerto Rico (IEUPR) maintained its ties for many years to both the Congregational/United Church of Christ (UCC) and the United Brethern in Christ/Evangelical United Brethren (EUB). The Iglesia gradually drew closer to the UCC, and dropped its ties to the EUB (now the United Methodist Church). In 1990 the IEUPR conducted a plebiscite, voted overwhelmingly to continue as a Conference of the UCC, and adopted a new constitution, with a new faith statement. This new statement, the Confesión de Fe, reflected the changing theological currents and social concern of the UCC.
